The Heysen Trail: Stage 2
The Fleurieu Interior
The Heysen Trail continues its journey inland from Victor Harbor, leaving behind the stunning coastal vistas and embarking on a more tranquil exploration of the Fleurieu Peninsula. As you venture away from the coast, you'll encounter a serene landscape of rolling hills, lush valleys, and picturesque conservation parks.
The trail ventures away from the coast at Kings Beach, a popular holiday destination known for its beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. From Kings Beach, the trail winds its way through the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula, offering glimpses of rural life and stunning countryside views.
The trail cuts across the peninsula on a north-westerly route until you arrive at the quaint township of Myponga, with its reservoir, a great place to spend the afternoon.
Then following the centre of the peninsula you journey through the stunning rolling fields that lead you to Mount Compass. Beyond which lie the Mount Magnificent and beyond the forest of Kuitpo.
As you continue your journey, you'll reach the historic town of Kuipto, a picturesque town with a rich history. Kuipto is renowned for its stunning rural landscapes, historic buildings, and vibrant community. The trail passes through the town, offering visitors a chance to explore its charming streets and historic sites.
The section of the trail starts from the Kings Beach car park. Following winding country roads and hidden paths between the fields you head away from the coast and head into the undulating heart of the peninsula.
